Terms of Service
Last updated 14 August 2026
Stellamap is free, it is provided as it is, and the positions and summaries on it are for interest rather than for anything that matters. Using the site means accepting what follows.
What Stellamap is
A website showing where the planets, moons, and a number of active spacecraft are, calculated from published orbital data, alongside short summaries of space news drawn from public sources including NASA and the European Space Agency.
It is free to use. There is nothing to buy and nothing to subscribe to.
What it is not
This is the important part. The positions shown are approximations produced for general interest. They are not suitable for navigation, mission planning, observation scheduling that matters, or any operational, professional, or scientific purpose. Do not rely on them for anything where being wrong has a cost.
The news summaries are produced automatically from public feeds. They can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Every item names its sources, and those sources are the thing to trust rather than our summary of them.
Your account
An account is optional. If you make one:
- Use an email address that is yours.
- Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
- One account per person.
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- Your display name is shown as you set it, so do not use it to impersonate anyone.
You can have the account deleted at any time by emailing the address at the bottom.
Using it sensibly
Do not:
- Attack, probe, or overload the site, or try to reach parts of it or data in it that are not yours.
- Scrape it in bulk or hammer it with automated requests.
- Take it apart to rebuild it as your own, or copy the site wholesale.
- Use it for anything unlawful.
Looking at the map, reading it, and screenshotting it are all fine. Sharing it is encouraged.
Other people’s material
The imagery and much of the underlying data come from NASA, JPL, ESA, and other agencies and observatories, and are credited in the app where they appear. They belong to those organisations and their own terms govern what you may do with them. Nothing here gives you any rights over their material.
Our material
The site itself, its design, its code, and the words written for it belong to us. Use the site as it is meant to be used and that is the end of it; republishing it, or a copy of it, is not covered.
Availability
The site is provided as it is, with no promise that it will be available, that it will keep working, or that anything on it is accurate. It may change, break, or stop entirely without notice. It is free, and that is the trade.
Ending it
You can stop using Stellamap whenever you like, and have your account deleted by asking. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, and will say why where it is possible to.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stellamap is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or anything arising from reliance on the positions or summaries shown. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to 100 US dollars.
None of this affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be signed away under the law where you live.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any right you have to bring a claim in the country where you live.
Changes
These terms can change. The date at the top says when they last did, and continuing to use the site after that is how you accept the new version.
