Astronauts complete spacewalk to prepare space station for new solar arrays

NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Anil Menon completed a six hour, 27 minute spacewalk outside the International Space Station on August 6. The spacewalk was the sixth for Meir and the first for Menon.
The pair successfully mounted a modification kit on the Starboard 6 truss segment to prepare the 3B power channel for future roll out solar arrays. The additional solar arrays will provide extra power needed for orbital science operations and eventual controlled deorbit.
Late in the spacewalk, a sensor in Menon's spacesuit indicated an unexpected carbon dioxide reading, but the crew safely wrapped up work after accomplishing all primary objectives.
