NASA activates new 34-meter antenna at Goldstone Deep Space Network

Deep Space Station 23 has been brought online in California to boost communication capacity for upcoming deep space exploration missions.

NASA leadership and personnel gathered at the Deep Space Network's Goldstone complex near Barstow, California, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 25 August 2026 to mark the completion of Deep Space Station 23.

The 34-meter multifrequency beam-waveguide antenna increases the network's overall capacity and will enhance NASA's deep space communications capabilities for decades to come.
