NASA has released its final Request for Proposals inviting American industry to submit design and operational plans for commercial space stations. The initiative seeks to transition low Earth orbit operations to commercial destinations following the planned retirement of the International Space Station.

The initiative aims to maintain continuous human presence and research capabilities in orbit. Commercial proposals will outline technical and financial strategies for constructing, launching, and managing the future space habitats.
