NASA has connected the Orion crew and service modules inside Kennedy Space Center, marking accelerated integration progress for Artemis III. The milestone outpaces previous integration timelines as teams prepare the spacecraft and Space Launch System rocket for flight.

Agency engineers also declared hardware development complete on the Lunar Environment Monitoring Station, or LEMS. The instrument is the first payload designed for Artemis astronauts to deploy near the lunar South Pole.

Additionally, NASA and Northrop Grumman are repurposing Gateway elements for surface demonstration missions, reflecting an agency shift to prioritize surface based operations.
